Mittelbergheim, Alsace, France
The Rietsch estate has been in the family for seven generations on land previously used for mixed crops including tobacco. It was Jean-Pierre’s parents who started cultivating vines in the 1970s, and handed on to Jean-Pierre in 1987. The vineyard is naturally cultivated with no use of chemicals.
In the cellar, very little sulphur is used, and only when necessary. Jean-Pierre is one of the few people in the area to be experimenting with skin contact wines and is well know for this.
This is his version of the Alsatian Edelzwicker blend but in his own style... Sylvaner, Riesling, Gewurtzraminer & Auxerrois blended from the '15, '16 and '17 vintages! Fresh bright and very drinkable, it's perfect in this format.
