Three of the new arrivals from François.
Les Pouches 2017
Les Pouches is François' new parcel of Chenin Blanc, replacing the Fontanelles cuvee. 2017 is his first vintage. The parcel is situated in a ancient river bed and the vines are around 30 years old. A third of the harvest was whole bunch macerated for about 2 weeks, while the rest was directly pressed. They were kept separated in 600L barrels plus the Stockinger (1200L), then everything was put together a few weeks before bottling. Rounded with beautiful minerality and focus this drinks well in its youth but will reward keeping it back if you can hold on...
Les Palennes 2017
100% Cabernet Franc from 70 year old vines, After experimenting with whole bunch in 2016 In 2017 he naturally tried a 50/50 destemmed/whole bunch. A very dry year so the wine is more muscular and intense than last year but with very fine tannins and plenty of fruit. Really very delicious Cabernet.
Bois Guyon 2015
Cabernet Franc from 80 year old vines. De-stemmed, 10 days maceration in tank, pressed then most goes to 400 litres barrels. Aged for two and a half years, bottled, wait a year and a half more before it sees the sunlight. Poor soil, nearly 100% limestone,
